Leadership
May 21 and 22nd in Abbotsford British Columbia, pastors and leaders from all the Partner's and Friends in Harvest all around Western Washington, British Columbia and Alberta - gathered together. We had two full days of ministering and praying for each other. The West PIH/FIH group has really worked at building relationships with each other, and so one of our favorite things we do when we get together, is catch up on everyone's family life - 'how are the kids doing?"!! We usually take time to pray for our families first, before we get into what's happening with our ministries and churches. We've really learned to love this time! So Monday morning was full of family stuff!
Fred Wright was able to come Monday afternoon, and we shared what each of us (the PIH/FIH churches) has been doing in our areas! That was where it really got exciting. Every pastor/leader shared the passion and burden to see the sick healed and more miracles happening here in North America - here in our area/region!
We have some amazing people out here in the West - lots of outward focused ministries - everything from missions in the Sudan...to working on the local native reserves, taking medical teams and intercessors on missions trips in different countries around the world, praying with local pastor's and leaders, organizing conferences for women in northern BC, working with prostitues, getting involved in community groups . - the list just went on! It was inspiring and exciting as pastor after pastor, shared the 'race' God had them running. And the best part? No competition....just geniune excitement for each other! Later that evening, Fred Wright shared on the 'divine commissions' - it was the right word for this group!
On Tuesday morning and afternoon, there was lots of prayer for each other, and more sharing of different things that were happening in our region! Lots of stories of the increase of healings in all our local churches, and out on the street, when we pray for people! Then, Tuesday evening May 22nd, we took time to minister to all of the leadership team members that had accompanied the pastors. It was a great time! And from there...we rested Wednesday..and then took off running Wednesday night, to jump in 'boots and all' into the Grace and Glory conference we were all hosting (May 23-26) with John & Carol Arnott, Duncan & Kate Smith and Ed Piorek! Awesome!

When I was fairly young, I was a pretty decent communicator. The upside to that was that I received some great opportunities to speak. The downside, however, was that I was often in over my head at these events.
For example, when I was 33, I was asked to speak at a youth conference at a state university campus. A few aspects of this engagement made me very nervous. For one thing, there would be 14,000 kids in the audience. For another, I had never spoken in such a big arena. And to make matters even worse, I was following a speaker who was much better and much more experienced than I was.
I well remember how I felt when I was preparing to go out on stage. The lights were bright and I couldn't see the audience. I knew there were 14,000 people out there, but all I saw was a big black hole. As someone who communicates best when I'm eye to eye with people, this made me very uncomfortable. I felt completely inadequate.
