 Mary or Martha?

You choose.

Col. 3: 1- 2 tells us to keep 'seeking the things above' as well as SETTING your mind on those things, NOT on the things of this earth. We need to start asking ourselves, daily, 'What is my mind set on?'

We need to learn to 'soak' in the things of God, SO THAT the things of this world, which continually work to sway our focus off of God, lose their hold over us. Paul prayed in Eph. 1: 17 that we would get a 'spirit of wisdom and revelation' to know GOD more and more. Not that we would know this world more, or how to make the things of this world work for our benefit, but that we would know GOD! Why? Vs. 2 says "So that you may know the HOPE of His calling, and the glory of HIS inheritance". Where is your hope these days? What inheritance are you putting your hope in?

Paul's prayer probably doesn't get answered by racing around not spending time to be still and KNOW God, and yet it is vital that we know these things: calling, inheritance and Power. Eph. 3: 17-21 talks about being 'rooted and grounded in love, SO THAT we can begin to understand the breadth, length, height, depth of His love which SURPASSES knowledge." Something that surpasses knowledge cannot be understood by mere mental process. It may be acknowledged as 'fact', but make no impact on my life or circumstances because it has not become revelation. We need to put ourselves in a space where God can speak to us, sometimes PAST our mind. You will get revelations by putting yourself in places where revelations CAN COME! Squeezing God inbetween all the other things in life, may give you atleast more benefit than having never spent time with God. BUT...actually setting your mind on God, but setting aside some TIME for God, will guarantee you the better benefits! Think of a mind and spirit, that has spent time getting God's perspective of the day, rather than the world's or the flesh's perspective - which one do you think will bring life?

Just like a doctor will tell you to "change your ways or get sick and die early", so hearing and doing is the only the thing that will make a difference in what you are soaking in! Hearing only says "Me? change my eating habits? I've heard that 100 times before - don't bore me with the same old stuff". The Doctor says "BUT if you do it, you will live!!!"

You've hear the message 100 times before, that you need to find time to 'soak in God's presence'. You've heard the message 100 times that what you 'soak in' is what will come out of you when you're squeezed. BUT, the choice is still yours. What will you choose to do? Keep doing what you're doing - or make a small change TODAY - that will lead to life!

Blessings,

Alf and Pam Dyck
